About me

I am a retired ecologist and land management adviser, and now donate my expertise to local good causes, such as for Friends of the River Frome and various community initiatives.

Former editor/compiler of Conservation News in British Wildlife for over 30 years.

Visiting lecturer at Leeds University (MSc Biodiversity & Conservation).

Extensive experience of working with the local community, having been a past Town Councillor and chair of the parish plan initiative for Thatcham, where  I was awarded the Civic Award  in 2008 and received a similar award by Frome Town Council in 2016. In 2007 I was responsible in my capacity as Technical Consultant for Thatcham Town Council for carrying out a parish review of surface water flooding and working with residents of the 1200 properties flooded at this time.

Between 2022 and 2024 I was a trustee of the Countryside Regeneration Trust, and Chair of that organisation until November 2024.
